About Rimol Greenhouses

Family-Owned and Operated for Over 30 Years

Bob Rimol founded Rimol Greenhouse Systems in 1994 with the aim of "building a better mousetrap" for the greenhouse industry. In the three decades since, Rimol Greenhouses has developed into a first-class commercial greenhouse manufacturing and distribution company, shipping greenhouses and high tunnels all over the United States to farms, garden centers, nurseries, schools and educational institutions, homesteads and more.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in the greenhouse kit that Rimol sells?

Rimol’s greenhouse and high tunnel kits include everything that you need to get growing. This includes the greenhouse frame and all the hardware, the covering (poly, polycarbonate or glass), doors, cooling and ventilation systems, heating systems, and environmental controls systems. Our kits also include complete instruction manuals with pictures and detailed drawings to help you with construction.

What is the difference between a high tunnel and a greenhouse?

Although the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, a high tunnel comes with extended ground posts that create taller side walls. High tunnels are designed for growing crops in soil directly in the ground, not in planters or on tables. High tunnels are also typically unheated, where a greenhouse may have a more advanced environmental control system to control heating, cooling/ventilation and irrigation.

Learn more about the differences in high tunnels vs. greenhouses in our blog post.

What is the difference between a freestanding and a gutter-connect greenhouse?

A freestanding greenhouse is a standalone structure that is used for growing that cannot be connected to other greenhouse structures. At Rimol, this would be our traditional gothic-shaped greenhouses and high tunnels, like the Nor'Easter, Northpoint, Eastpoint and Bobcat.

A gutter-connected greenhouse is a style of commercial greenhouse that allows for the connection of multiple greenhouse structures on the sidewalls, at the gutter. Each greenhouse in the connection is referred to as a “bay.” Greenhouse bays can gradually be added over time, allowing for easy expansion as the business grows. The Matterhorn is Rimol’s flagship gutter-connect greenhouse.

What size greenhouses does Rimol offer?

Rimol offers freestanding greenhouses and high tunnels in widths of 16, 18, 20, 22, 26, 30 and 34 feet, and in any length in 4-foot increments from 48 feet long onwards. Our Matterhorn gutter-connect style greenhouses are offered in widths of 20, 24 and 30 feet, in any length in 4-foot increments from 24 feet long onwards. Our structures are generally sized for commercial growers.

Are greenhouses designed to be safe and sturdy in windy or snowy regions?

Rimol Greenhouses are engineered to hold up in even the worst weather conditions – from heavy wind and snow to icy temperatures and freezing rain. Every year we ship containers full of Rimol Greenhouses up to Alaska, because our growers there know they can trust our structures to stand strong through their harsh winters!

Do I need a building permit from my town to construct a greenhouse?

For our Matterhorn greenhouse, a building permit is typically required. Rimol can provide stamped engineering plans to certify wind and snow loads to meet code requirements for your region. If you are constructing a high tunnel or greenhouse without a permanent foundation, you likely will not need a building permit. However, it is always prudent to check with your municipal or county building department prior to installation as there are some exceptions where a permit may be required.

Do you ship to my area?

Rimol ships to all 50 U.S. states. We have extensive experience shipping to remote and rural locations and will work with you every step of the way to make sure your greenhouse gets where it needs to be. If you are located outside of the United States and would like to purchase from Rimol Greenhouses, please contact us.

How do you ship a greenhouse?

Rimol’s smallest greenhouse model, the Bobcat, fits on a single custom pallet. Larger greenhouses and high tunnels ship with common freight carriers as partial loads or dedicated trucks directly to our customers. Our sales and logistics teams will walk you through the shipping process every step of the way.

Is there any financial assistance available to help purchase a greenhouse?

There are many different sources of funding available for greenhouses and high tunnels. The NRCS offers cost-share programs for high tunnels nationwide. The USDA also offers grants for schools and institutional farms. Your state or local government also may have funding available for greenhouse projects. Our sales representatives can discuss funding and financing options with you.

Does Rimol install greenhouses?

Rimol does not offer in-house construction or installation services. Your sales representative can refer you to trusted builders in your area. If you choose to build your greenhouse yourself, our expert team is available to answer questions every step of the way.

Featured Project

Sugar River Valley Regional Technical Center - Newport, NH

As part of a recent renovation of Sugar River Valley's Career & Technical Education building, the school built a state-of-the-art Rimol Matterhorn greenhouse. The greenhouse is being used to support hands-on learning for students in the Animal & Plant Sciences program, including the FFA organization. Students are working in the greenhouse daily to learn about plant care, soil biology, plant tissue culture, business skills and more.
